Literature Text

It's sickening.

They flock to you
                      like pigs to the slaughter
                      like flies
                                          to a decaying carcass.

That's what you are, you know.

The scent of death is thick in the air around you. Everything I ever thought about you is crumbling and rotting away, flesh melting from bone, tendons sagging listlessly.

Which is the lie? Is it the thoughts they feed to me, the venom dripping from whispered words, disgust for your behavior and disdain for your existence?

Or is it the way they cluster around you like you are a god? Are they building you a palace of lies and hate beneath a veil of adoration?

                                                           …I doubt it…
Not exactly where I intended to go with this. It's not quite bitter enough. Wanted to do more with the carcass metaphor, but maybe I'll come back to that another time.

Enjoy!

Yes, comparing people to decaying carcasses DOES amuse me. XD

Wow, this is great, the overall poem is very cohesive and all of the imagery is really powerful.
